As a Professor she headed the department of “Technological Advancement and Resource Efficient Construction” at the University of Hannover’s architecture school. As early as 1982 she recognized that the broader application of ecological principles were inhibited by fundamental flaws in the monetary system, especially the consistent need for economic growth resulting from interest and compound interest.

Het vigerende debt based monetary system heeft namelijk decennialang voeding kunnen gegeven aan een super-schulden-cyclus, die nu een kritische grens gepasseerd is. Een monetaire reset wordt daarom onontkoombaar en zal – afhankelijk van de gekozen oplossing – voorafgegaan moeten worden door een schuldkwijtscheldingsprogramma, ook wel debt jubilee genoemd.
Stop de Restschuld
U betaalt jarenlang € 200,- maar de schuld neemt niet af. Als u de bank vraagt om te specificeren, dan doen ze dat niet. Ze sturen alleen maar uw betalingsoverzichten. Dat is niet voldoende. In diverse zaken vragen de rechters de banken, vooral ABN-Amro om te specificeren. Dat doen ze structureel niet. Vaak hebben ze de originele overeenkomsten niet eens. De ABN-Amro verliest zaak na zaak.

En en passant demonstreert economie professor Bas Jacobs in zijn blog ook nog dat het inleidende college nationale rekeningen een beetje aan hem voorbij gegaan is. Om met dat laatste te beginnen, Jacobs zegt dat huizenaankopen, en niet importen, de grootste component van consumptie zijn. Ik weet niet in welke mate Jacobs zijn huis uitleeft, maar de meeste mensen hebben dat huis aan het eind van het jaar nog steeds overeind.

John Maynard Keynes famously wrote that: “Practical men, who believe themselves to be quite exempt from any
intellectual influence, are usually the slaves of some defunct economist.” (1) A modern example of that dictum,
relevant to the economy, policy, and markets, is the widespread view that banks can “lend out” their reserves
(deposits) at the central bank, as if bank reserves represented a pool of money that is just waiting to “flow into” bank
lending. Because such a thing cannot occur and therefore has not occurred, the point is usually made in reverse: banks
currently are not “lending out” their reserves–rather they are “parking” their reserves at the central bank or leaving
them “idle.” But that they might lend them out in the future is a lurking risk and a reason to be cautious about the
central bank engaging in aggressive quantitative easing (QE) (2).

-Money creation in practice differs from some popular misconceptions — banks do not act simply as intermediaries, lending out deposits that savers place with them, and nor do they ‘multiply up’central bank money to create new loans and deposits.
-The amount of money created in the economy ultimately depends on the monetary policy of the central bank. In normal times, this is carried out by setting interest rates. The central bank canalso affect the amount of money directly through purchasing assets or ‘quantitative easing’.
